Pseudo X-Rays

The X-Ray is very "fashion" style at the moment, so rather than sticking your models on the airport conveyor belt, how about this?

  • Take one image
  • Copy it, and paste as new layer (Ctrl-C and Ctrl-L)

  • Apply some heavy Gaussian Blur to the new layer

  • Set the layer merge mode to "Difference"

The point is not to re-create a genuine X-ray but to give the feel of the effect quickly and simply. If you want to take this further, then the "Difference" mode is a good place to start, since anything that matches between the two layers comes out black.

  • This version still uses difference mode, but in this case I have not blurred the new layer, instead I have worked it over by hand with the smudge tool in lighten and soften modes to create differences between the two images.
