Gold Text 1

Step 1:

1. Create a new image, 200 x 100, 64M colours
2. Select medium gray and enter some text
3. DO NOT clear the selection marquee (the "marching ants") from the text

   Whenever text is entered it is automatically selected. This is vital for nearly all text effects. So be ready to apply any text effects as soon as you have entered the text.

Step 2:

1. Add cutout white and cutout black to give a 3D appearance.

   This is a common trick to give an instant 3D effect to text (or any other object).

   1. Select Image, Effects, Cutout
   2. Set Fill Interior with colour OFF
   3. Set Shadow Colour to White
   4. Set Opacity to 100, blur to 2
   5. Set offsets to vertical=2, horizontal=2
   6. OK

   You can also try reducing the opacity a little to stop the edges going totally white.

   1. Repeat the cutout, but this time:
   2. Set Shadow Colour to Black
   3. Set offsets to vertical = -2, horizontal = -2

Step 3:

1. Set the Foreground Colour to White
2. Apply Image, Other, Hot Wax

Step 4:

1. Shift-U to call up the Red/Green/Blue adjustment
2. Set Red to 80, Green to 60, Blue to 0
3. Click OK

The gold colouring you can obviously play with to your hearts content, to create other colours, simply adjust the colour settings to your whim.
