Instant Frames with Blade Pro

Blade Pro is a commercial filter which can be used with PaintShop Pro (and many other paint packages). It is pretty much one of those "must have" filters, and if you do not have it, or would like to use the trial version, then go to Blade Pro to find out more.

This tutorial is not an introduction to Blade Pro, but rather describes how to create instant frames using Blade Pro. If you are new to Blade Pro, then you may want to experiment with the filter first, before trying this.

Step 1:

Selection

Inverted

  1. Start with the picture you want to frame
  2. With the select tool, draw a rectangle around the area to be framed
  3. Invert the selection, so you have the frame selected (not the framed area).

Step 2:

  1. Fire up Blade Pro
  2. Select an effect, or just hit the Random button until you are happy.

Step 3:

  1. To finish things off, you might want to add a gentle drop shadow on the same selection. This gives just an added hint of depth to the frame against the piture.
