You often need to adjust the brightness of an image, but I find that using the
gamma correction or Brightness/Contrast controls unwieldy for this purpose.
Here is a dead quick way to get to where your going, that gives you maximum
flexibility.
Step 1:
- OK, I've got a tiled image, but its too dark to actually use on a web page
because it just clutters up the background and has too many light/dark contrasts
- So, add a new layer
- Fill with white
- Adjust the opacity till you get what you want
Variations:
- Off course, the same thing works in reverse, you want to darken an image,
fill with black and adjust opacity.
- Finally, there is nothing to stop you using different kinds of control
layers here. This example uses a vignette type layer. Which is clear in
the centre, fading to white at the edges.
