Boxed in Red Leather

I am slowing building a long running series of women in boxes. The whole area is clearly loaded with masses of symbolism and metaphor.

We can look at the way men "box" women by way of pigeon-holing them, restricting them, encompassing and overshadowing them.

Or we can look at how women use boxes for security, comfort, nest-building, secrecy and so much more.

As for the metaphors of boxes - that's for another time.

Technique:

The creation is obviously many layered. The use of consistent colouring throughout all the layers of the inner picture provide a strong colour harmony. (Besides which I'm so attracted to that antique gold look!)

Careful use of blurring between all the objects ensures that they sit well together, rather than appearing to be a montage.

The box itself is also painted, not 3D generated. It uses simple textures, some cut and paste in layers and some "pool shadow" type lighting.
