In fact the first version had the colours reversed - but it didn't look right - which just goes to show how much the stereotypes fit in me also! Technique: Based on an original photo that took quite a bit of manipulation to create an original grainy, high contrast look. I always find high contrast a difficult thing to achieve. You would expect it to be easy, just crank up the contrast slider, but in fact unless your picture is perfectly balanced in tone to begin with this rarely works. I have no set pattern for contrast, but use a mixture of tone controls, contrast, brightness, sharpness and goodness knows what else. The grain is rather more simply applied with a layer of noise adjusted to taste.
