Short Attention Span Masking - step 3

Add a mask

- Now hit the "Mask Show All" button and then look at your Layers Palette, as shown below. AARRGGHH!! What is all that confusing stuff??? Not to worry, don't even think about it. All you need to do now is highlight the layer called "Mask - Copy of Background", and ignore the rest. Don't try to think in terms of whether you're hiding or showing, or what's going to be transparent and what isn't, or what the deal is with the grouping. Once you start to actually see what's happening as you work, it will all become easier to understand. Ok, now the only layer we will be working on throughout the rest of the exercise is this Mask Layer.

- Hover your cursor over the Mask Layer in the Layers Palette so that the thumbnail shows whether it is white or black. It is white. The only thing you need to know right now is that the opposite of white is black.
